Welcome! ClassChatter offers free blogging and web tools for teachers at all levels of education. Our first goal is to provide a safe haven for teachers and students on the web. You will find a secure and private environment, free of any advertising directed at your students. We hope that you will discover useful tools that will help move your students more rapidly into 21st century communications and collaboration!

Features: Protection

I began building ClassChatter over three years ago because I felt none of the available blogging tools properly protected students' identities. On ClassChatter a student's identity and work remain completely private. Teachers are in full control, and with new tools meeting FERPA compliance is even easier than before.

Features: Ease of Use

I am a full-time classroom teacher, and ClassChatter has been designed for others like me. With my first hand experience (and also that of other teachers) on how to organize classrooms and assignments, I have created an intuitive, easy to use interface that can satisfy your needs in a wide range of subjects and teaching styles. Give it a try!

Features: Class Mail

Have you ever wished that you could electronically exchange messages with your students, but you felt that most email and instant messaging seemed unprofessional? ClassChatter now introduces cMail which provides an email-like option for rapidly communicating with students, but without the need for email addresses. Again, the teacher is in full control, and all messages are archived permanently for safety.

Personal Blogs

As one of the first features released, this enables every student to have his or her own web log. Students simply log on to the site to make their posts. These blogs are viewable to the entire class or just the teacher (at your option), and visitors can make posts or leave comments as well.

Topical (Group) Blogs

This is a collaborative space where students and teachers can share ideas while discussing a common topic. The uses of this feature are only limited by the teacher's imagination. Again as the teacher, you control all access to these forums.

Assignment Blogs

An exciting new feature has been added that allows teachers to post assignments for the class and later grade them in a private secure setting. Students can work on assignments over multiple online sessions and then submit them when they are finished. Teachers can subsequently grade the assignment, offer guidance or comments, or return the assignment to the student for further work.
